Every Christmas my mother gives each of us a letter. She reflects on the
year and the growth she has seen in us. It is the most precious gift
and the one I look forward to the most. When life gets me down and the devil seems to want to remind me of all my faults I can open up those letters and see myself through my mothers eyes. It lifts my spirits and grounds me. So with mothers day rapidly
approaching, I have been asked what I want (dog mom status over here ;-) lol and my babies do a GREAT job btw) but this year I wanted to write a letter to our kids. I know its a day where mothers are appreciated but I have waited so long for this and couldn't think of a better way to celebrate how motherhood found me. I am already so in love with them and I have no idea who they are. Its the most beautiful feeling in the world and I want to reflect on that this mothers day.
To our starfish,
When you are picked up and brought to us; you will not know of us or what to expect and that's okay. To be honest were pretty nervous too. We can never imagine the hurt you feel or the confusion and that's okay too. We have all been hurt and had our share of confusing times in our lives. Our right of passage if you will but luckily God sends us angels in disguise to help us get through.
We cant promise that this transition will be easy but we can figure it out together. We cant promise that we will have all the answers but we know who does; God and when you're ready we would LOVE to tell you about Him and His Son. We cant promise that we will do everything like your parents did but we can promise that we will do everything we can to make you feel at home while you are with us. Its okay to tell us what you need.
We can promise you that we don't want to replace your mom and dad. Those are some very big shoes to fill and we know you love them. We love our mom and dad too and nobody can replace them. We could never replace that love but we hope one day you will open your heart to us and let us in. Embark on a new adventure to share your life with us and let us show you a love like ours. You don't know this yet; but you have been our greatest adventure and we would love to tell you about it one day and how "God found us you!"
All our love,
Jeremy & Trina Wilhelm
